16.5% More Tourists This April

It has been a good start to the tourist season in Croatia, with 16.5% more arrivals in April, compared to the same month last year…
Whilst tourist arrivals were up 16.5%, the number of overnight stays, a key measure, was up 19.3% on last year. Statistics from the Croatian Tourist Board show that 637,000 tourists created 1.8 million overnight stays in the month of April.
Out of the 637,000 arrivals, 528,700 were foreign tourists, which was 18.5% more than last April. Local tourists also were up this April, with 7.7% more than in April 2013. Easter and the Red Bull Air Race in Rovinj helped Istria record 22.7% growth in the number of tourists. Most other counties along the coast also saw growth – Split-Dalmatia (23.7%), Dubrovnik-Neretva (17%), Zadar (17%), Kvarner (10%), Šibenik-Knin (5%) and 11% in the capital Zagreb. Germans were the number one tourists, followed by Slovenes, Austrians, and Italians.
