2020 Women’s Handball Euro: Croatia moves closer to semi-finals with victory over Romania

Croatia has taken a big step to reach the semi-finals of the 2020 European Women’s Handball Championship in Denmark after beating Romania on Thursday.
Croatia came from behind to beat Romania 25-20 in the first match of the second phase to confirm their place at the top of Group II with 6 points.
After taking an early lead, Croatia would trail Romania by four goals before fighting back to go into the break 14:10 ahead with a 7-0 run.
In the second half, Croatia managed to hold their lead and win by five goals to record their fourth win in a row at the tournament. Valentina Blazevic was Croatia’s top scorer with 7 goals.

Impressive wins against Hungary, world champions the Netherlands, and Serbia saw Croatia win Group C and carry over 4 points to the main round. Croatia will play Norway on Saturday and Germany on Tuesday.
The top two teams will advance through to the semi-finals.
