21-year-old from Korčula crowned new Miss Universe Croatia

28 April 2019 – 21-year-old Mia Rkman from the island of Korčula has been crowned the new Miss Universe Croatia 2019 on Saturday night in Zagreb.
The judges, led by Ivana Trump, selected Rkman as the winner ahead of the 18 other finalists from all over Croatia at the pageant which was held in the capital Zagreb. Last year’s winner, Mia Pojatina, crowned Rkman after she was announced the winner.
The first runner-up was Tea Slavica from Zagreb. The second runner-up was Maja Čatlak from Makarska. Miss Photogenic went to Petra Krivić.
Mia, who studies sanitary engineering in Zagreb, has been involved in various sports, including swimming, handball, teakwondo, latin-american dancing, marching and tennis. One day, she would like to be part of the epidemiological team and focus on solving the main problems of today’s healthcare.
Mia will represent Croatia at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant later this year. She also receives a four-year scholarship to the Zagreb School of Economics and Management or MBA studies worth 20,000 euros.
On the night, the finalists paraded in an evening gown and swimsuit and had to answer questions. Entertainment on the night was provided by Jacques Houdek, Roko Blažević, Goran Karan and Samuel Lucas.
