Four Croatian companies have made the top 10 biggest companies in the region list…
Retail and food giants Agrokor, who recently purchased a majority stake in Mercator, are the regions biggest company with income in 2013 of 3.97 billion euros. Croatia was the best represented nation in the region on the list, with four companies, whilst Slovenia and Serbia had three each. The biggest mover was Serbia’s FIAT Automobili who made the top 10 for the very first time, coming in at number 10 on the list with an income last year of 1.4 billion euros.
A list of the most profitable companies in the region would look different however, with NIS from Serbia in number one spot with a net profit of 427.6 million euros, followed by T-HT in second place with 190 million euros, and Slovenian firm Krka in third.
Agrokor was Croatia’s best performing company on the list of the top 500 companies in central Europe, coming in at 27th place, followed by Ina in 34th, and HEP in 95th. Poland dominated the central European list with 161 companies making it. The central Europe list confirmed one thing, that the whole region was still in a state of stagnation caused.
