60 Seconds With…Allison Scurich

Croatian women’s national team footballer Allison Scurich is Croatia Week’s latest “60 Seconds With…” guest. The 27-year-old American-born defender currently plays for SC Sand in Germany’s 2. Fußball-Bundesliga. Scurich made her debut for Croatia in 2011 and has been a regular feature since.

Favourite place in Croatia? There are a lot of amazing places in Croatia, but I’d have to say being at the Skurič house In Čilipi where my grandfather was born is definitely my favorite place to be when I’m in Croatia. Always good home cooked food and even more importantly, good company.

Favourite beach in Croatia? The Čilipi beach, it’s a beautiful spot that is visited only by the local people.

Favourite restaurant in Croatia? Marco Polo restaurant in the old city in Dubrovnik.

Favourite city in the world? Laguna Niguel, California, although I’m pretty biased, I don’t think there is much better than being 5 minutes from the beach and an hour from skiing in the mountains.

Favourite player? Dante, I think he’s one of the best center backs in the world.

Best player you played with? Patricia Hanebeck who played in Turbine Potsdam the past 2 seasons and in the summer break switched clubs to SC Sand, as she is now my teammate.

Favourite website? Espn.com… Being overseas, it’s the best way for me to keep up with all of the American sports that I follow.

Most admired Croatian? Mario Mandzukic

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go? I’ve been fortunate enough to do quite a bit of traveling in my life, but I have yet to go to any Asian countries, so I definitely wanna make a trip to Thailand someday.
