ZAGREB, June 14 (Hina) – The 60th International Children’s Festival in the coastal town of Sibenik starts on June 20 with the play ‘Lullaby for a Little Mouse’ performed by the Branko Mihaljevic Children’s Theatre from Osijek, and takes place until July 4, it was announced at a press conference this week.
Organisers said that although the festival’s programme would be significantly “poorer” than in the previous year due to the coronavirus epidemic, they had managed to keep it international.
“There are five international programmes, of which two are exhibitions from China, one from France, and two film workshops from the Czech Republic and Slovenia which will be held online,” said Jakov Bilic, director of the Sibenik theatre and the festival.
This year’s festival will cost HRK 800,000, which is a third of the cost of last year’s festival.
The 60th edition includes around 110 programmes, while the 59th included 190, and the troupes arriving at Sibenik will be smaller than last year. The Summer Stage programme has also been reduced significantly, and most plays will be performed at the Ivan Goran Kovacic Square.
The Sibenik festival is a member of the International Festivals Association.
