62.4% of Croatian winemakers operated at a profit in 2019

ZAGREB, Nov 11 (Hina) – A total of 250 winemakers operated in Croatia in 2019, of whom 156 or 62.4% operated at a profit and 94 or 37.6% at a loss, data from the Financial Agency (Fina) shows.
These businesses employed 1,333 workers, or 8.3% more than in 2018.
They generated HRK 678.3 million in total revenue, up 9.5%, while their expenditure increased by 9.2% to HRK 683.8 million.
Their profits rose by 46.6% to HRK 44.5 million and losses increased by 17.6% to HRK 50.6 million, which shows a negative consolidated financial result of HRK 6.1 million. Still, they managed to cut their losses by 51.8% from 2018.
The winemaking sector recorded a positive trade balance of HRK 8.6 million in 2019, with imports increasing by 25.9% to HRK 16.1 million and exports declining by 1.9% to HRK 24.7 million.
