Anyone who has explored Croatia knows that it is a country full of breathtaking views. There are plenty of amazing photo opportunities from well-known lookout points around the country.
The breathtaking panoramic views from the top of mountains, hills, and monuments are worth the hike up them.
Here are just 9 gorgeous lookout points of many worth checking out in Croatia.
Vidova Gora – Brač

Vidova Gora is the highest peak of the island of Brač as well as the highest mountain peak on the Adriatic islands. A beautiful view spreads over Bol and Zlatni rat beach, the island of Hvar and all the way to Italy, Jabuka island, Vis, Biokovo and Pelješac.
Marjan – Split

This forest is one of the symbols of Split. It consists of the three peaks and a lookout point offering a beautiful view over Split and the surrounding area.
Sljeme – Zagreb

This point located on Medvednica hill offers a magnificent view over Zagreb on one side and the hills of Zagorje on the other. It is also a beautiful place for hiking so you could find numerous different lookout points. The old fortress of Medvedgrad is also a beautiful position for keeping watch over the capital of Croatia.
Gardun – Trilj

This breathtaking point is settled in the inner part of Dalmatia, up along the river Cetina to the town of Trilj. The Gardun hill offers a gorgeous view over Cetina valley. It is also guarded by the legionary fortress of Tilurium and the view stretches over the surrounding mountains and the beautiful nature around it.
Biokovo

A dangerous ride to the top of the mountain is well worth the risk! Once you reach this second highest top in Croatia, you will witness a magnificent view stretching all the way to Italy and its Monte Gargano mountain as well as the beautiful Makarska Riviera.
Motovun
The medieval hill town of Motovun surrounded by green scenery and Mirna River is a fairytale location. Gorgeous views stretch from a nearby hilltop where the town of Grožnjan is settled as well as from the valley below, the point from which the old town rises on the horizon
Španjola Fortress – Hvar

Make your way up to the Spanish Fortress in Hvar town on the island of the same name. A breathtaking view overlooking the town of Hvar, as well the Pakleni islands and the Adriatic sea. On a clear day you will be able to see Vis island.
Srđ – Dubrovnik

A breathtaking view over the old town of Dubrovnik, beautiful Lokrum island and the coastline towards Cavtat can be seen from Mt Srđ. If you walk the rocky path leading to it, instead of the cable car, you’ll witness different magnificent views from diverse heights.
The Greeting to the Sun – Zadar

Purely for the sunset, which Alfred Hitchcock called the ‘most beautiful sunset in the world’, The Greetings to the Sun monument in Zadar Croatia is dedicated to the Sun. It consists of three hundred multi-layered glass plates placed on the same level with the stone-paved waterfront in the shape of a 22-meter diameter circle, with the photo-voltage solar modules underneath. Lighting elements installed in a circle turn on at night, and produce a show of light.
