Popular in the 1990s, espadrilles are making a comeback on the fashion scene in Croatia…
Croatian shoe manufacturer Borovo have this week presented their new collection featuring 15 new models of espadrilles, the slip-on shoes which were big over two decades ago. Borovo presented this season’s ‘must have’ line of Startas espadrilles on their Facebook page.
“With espadrilles being this season’s hit, we decided to create our own version. They have been designed by Iva Ćurković Spajić,” Martina Tomljenović from Borovo says.
The light and comfortable new espadrilles are, like Borovo’s popular Startas shoes, made from canvas and rubber. One colour espadrilles cost 119 kuna, whilst patterned models cost 139 kuna.
Recently Borovo teamed up with fashion brand Hippy Garden to create a Croatian souvenir pair of espadrilles with a traditional gingerbread heart motif. The Swarovski crystals embellished espadrilles are hand-made from natural materials, and come packed in a recycled box of state-of-the-art design.
The espadrilles are available to purchase up and down the country at the busiest outlets, including airports.
