“My motto is: A man is living whilst he is working or creating something! In my life I collected a lot of data from many areas, and now I am publishing it,” explains Ante Dragic, who at the ripe old age of 98 has just released his tenth book titled ” Croatian Maritime Economy of the Twentieth Century.”
Dragic, who says that he is the oldest person in his town of Poluotok on the Dalmatian coast, will not stop and even has plans to release another book. Dragic says he is often asked what his his secret for longevity and the charismatic Croat says there is no real secret besides watching what he eats and making sure he gets exercise.
The themes to Dragic’s books till now have been the Zadar islands and maritime economy, he even worked for ten years on a book about the population of the Zadar islands, extracting data from 670 registers in state archives in Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Rijeka and Pazin, reported daily Croatian newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.
