Tourism Minister Outlines Plans To Put Croatia Into Top 20 World Destinations By 2020

Croatia’s Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin today has outlined the governments plans in parliament today to get Croatia into the top 20 leading tourist destinations in the world by 2020. Currently Croatia sits at number 34.
“We want to position Croatia in the top 20 leading tourist destinations in the world by 2020. Reaching this goal means managing, administering and implementing four strategic objectives: to realise 7 billion euros investment, improve infrastructure and quality of accommodation offerings, which means building 20,000 more hotel rooms and increasing growth in the sahre of hotels to tourism revenue from 13.1 to 18%, the construction of new facilities at camp sites, increase the quality of family run accommodation, creating around 30,000 new jobs with 20,000 directly in tourism, and 10,000 in supporting activities, and increasing annual tourism spending to 14.3 billion euros,” said Lorencin in parliament today.
Croatia has 7 years to reach its goal and opening up new markets in Russia, China, Korea, Japen and Turkey is seen as key to achieving this.
