Cashless payments in Croatia rise 47% in past 5 yrs

ZAGREB, Oct 31 (Hina) – The number of payment card transactions in Croatia in the past five years has increased by 58% and their total value by 47%, the central bank says in a report on cashless payment in 2019.

The report shows that a Croatian citizen had 2.55 payment cards in their wallet, which puts Croatia near the top in the EU.

At the same time, 26% of consumers and 50% of businesses used online banking.

The number of mobile banking users is also rising and the number of mobile banking transactions in 2019 was higher than that of online banking transactions.

The report shows that credit transfers and payment card transactions each accounted for 38% of cashless payments in 2019.
