VIDEO: From Vukovarska street in Split to Vukovar

Together with you in prayer for all the victims of Vukovar, expressing gratitude to all the defenders, and concerning for the immense injustice.

Special thanks to Torcida for this history written on concrete walls on Vukovarska street in Split.

Their messages with Vukovar siege motifs are the bright side of this city and every human who understands these messages. The siege of Vukovar was 21st-century fascism evil driven by Yugoslavian/Greater Serbia politics and army force.

Defending and fighting against such evil was an act of humanity and anti-fascism. But more than all, it was an act of courage, and desire for freedom.

So many victims and dead defenders deserve special care, memory, and attention.

This is why such art motifs with stories, testimonials, and names of victims and defenders, should be declared a protected memorial area. They are a valuable collection of stories about people who wrote their history in blood. Their stories, their destinies, and their names are not engraved in the collective memory of our nation. They are not, but they should have been a long time ago.

That is why this book by Torcida should become a school textbook for both children and adults so that everyone can better appreciate their sacrifice and give thanks for our freedom. As time goes on, it becomes absolutely clear that it does not heal wounds. Because time without human is nobody and nothing. That’s why a human is needed. It takes humanity to bear witness to the truth and seek justice.

With these photos and video, I am trying to awake the human in humans. Invite him to stop and think about each picture and story.

The time, when we were able to point at our politics as the only responsible party for this injustice, has passed. All of us are becoming part of this great human debacle and shame.

Vukovar is an extraordinary human tragedy without minimum justice reached.
Vukovar is not some kind of “once upon the time” story.
Vukovar injustice is happening today in front of our eyes.
We are participating in this injustice.
Mostly with our silence.
This is not enough only to remember Vukovar for one day.
We should search for justice all the time.
Do you know why?
Because of these terrible facts:

“SIX MILLION grenades fell on the city of Vukovar in three months of bestial Yugoslavian army and Chetniks torture.

THREE THOUSAND people were killed during the siege.

A thousand people are still listed as MISSING, and among them are 12 kids.

264 prisoners from the Vukovar hospital were brutally KILLED and THROWN into the pit at Ovčara.

700 people were KILLED at Velepromet.

NO ONE can say how many raped women there were in Vukovar.

The way in which the Yugoslavian army and Chetniks killed the defenders of Vukovar is unimaginable.

EVERYTHING was destroyed in Vukovar.”

NO ONE was charged and jailed for ALL of this.

NO ONE paid for the enormous damage.
