ZAGREB, 10 November 2020 – Canadian leisure airline, Air Transat, has confirmed to Croatian Aviation that it plans to reconnect Toronto and Zagreb with a direct service in its 2021 summer flight schedule.
After the withdrawal of Emirates, and now concrete confirmation from carriers such as Korean Air and Air Canada Rouge, Air Transat is the first airline to announce a long-haul route to Zagreb Airport in 2021.
Air Transat launched its first flight Toronto – Zagreb flight back in 2016 and since then, the airline has continuously increased the number of weekly flights on the route from season to season, as well as extending the duration of operations (currently from May to the end of October).
“Croatia is a well-known tourist destination and we believe that in 2021 we will reconnect Toronto and Zagreb with direct flights. Tickets are already on sale and operations will depend on passenger demand – our intention is clear, we want to reconnect these two markets,” the airline told Croatian Aviation.
The first Toronto – Zagreb flight next year has been scheduled for Tuesday, May 11th, 2021. The route will operate once a week until the end of May, with departures on Sundays from May 30th, as well as flights on Thursdays from June 17th.
From June 17th, Air Transat intends to operate on this route three times a week, until the beginning of September, then the number of weekly flights will decrease as the summer season end approaches.
An A330-200 aircraft, which has a capacity from 332 to 345 seats, will be used on the route.
Departures from Toronto are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays in the evening and departure from Zagreb to Toronto is the following day (Monday, Wednesday and Friday). Apart from Toronto as a final destination, travellers from Zagreb have access to other Canadian cities, such as Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal.
