ZAGREB, Nov 15 (Hina) – The Tourist Board of Mali Lošinj, a town on the northern Adriatic island of Lošinj, and Arena Hospitality Group (AHG) have been presented with WTM Responsible Tourism Awards for taking responsibility and addressing the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They were among about a hundred businesses, institutions, destinations and individuals from around the world honoured with these awards at the World Travel Market in London, which for the first time in its 40-year-long history took place online from November 9 to 11.
The Mali Lošinj Tourist Board was “commended” for its response to the challenges brought about by the coronavirus pandemic and for the protocols it had devised in cooperation with the local government and relevant stakeholders in cases of suspected infection. It was also praised for its “ferry free” campaign as part of which all visitors who stayed in commercial accommodation on Lošinj island for more than seven nights had their final bill reduced by the price of a return ferry ticket.
Arena Hospitality Group was “highly commended” for preparing 100 lunch packages each day for local hospital staff and donating 35 LCD TV for patients. Twenty of its housekeepers assisted in the preparation and cleaning of new hospital spaces.
