26 December 2020 – The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has announced the ranking of clubs in Europe’s top club competition – European Cup / Champions League from 1955 to 2020.
The top 100 features two Croatian clubs – Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split.
Dinamo Zagreb was the best-ranked Croatian club sitting at No. 30. The Zagreb-based club played 136 matches in Europe’s elite competition in the last 65 years, winning 55 of them, drawing 28 and losing 53.
Hajduk Split came in at No. 79 on the list playing 40 matches in the European Cup / Champions League, winning 18, drawing 10 and losing 12.
Real Madrid topped the rankings by some way. As well as having won the most trophies, they have played, won, drawn and lost more games than any other side, as well as scoring and conceding the most goals.
Madrid have played in 51 editions of the European Cup and UEFA Champions League in total – 11 more than their closest rivals Benfica – and their total of 445 games in the elite competition is 87 more than the second-ranked team, Bayern München, UEFA said.
11th-ranked Dynamo Kyiv are the highest-ranked side never to have laid hands on the European Cup, or even reach the final.
