Lekenik-Sisak section of the A11 Zagreb-Sisak motorway to be completed

ZAGREB, 4 February 2021 (Hina) – The government adopted a conclusion on Thursday for the construction of the Lekenik-Sisak section of the A11 Zagreb-Sisak motorway, with a distance of 10.9 kilometres and an estimated value of HRK 300 million, saying that it could be completed in two to two and a half years.

A public tender is expected to be advertised by the end of February.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković said that the project for the construction of that section of the highway and a fast road to the centre of Sisak would be prepared by the Hrvatske Autoceste (HAC) road management company and that it would also advertise the public tender. Plenković believes that the project could be completed in the next two to two and a half years and considers that that means better connectivity with Sisak, Petrinja and Sisak-Moslavina County in general which will then “lean on” Zagreb.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković said that the completion of the motorway to Sisak is considered to be a priority project for the long-term revitalisation of Sisak-Moslavina County.

“The (government’s) conclusion obliges HAC to, no later than 28 February 2021, launch procedures for a public tender for the construction of the motorway with an estimated value of HRK 300 million from HAC’s foreseen financial plan for 2021 and projections for 2022 and 2023,” Butković underscored.

The deadline for the works is two years from signing a contract. HAC has already been issued with a building permit for the 10.9-kilometre Lekenik-Sisak section.

Resolving property rights relations and buying of land for that section is underway and it is estimated this will cost HRK 25 million, while a public tender for the supervision of construction is estimated at HRK 7.5 million and will be launched in April this year. HAC will also launch a public tender in February for archaeological tests in the area with an estimated cost of HRK 10.5 million.
