ZAGREB, 8 February (Hina) – As part of the project “Healthy living”, launched by the Croatian Public Health Institute (HZJZ), as of this spring Croatians will be able to go on group hikes with professional guidance to be organised across the country.
As part of the project, led by epidemiologist Sanja Musić Milanović, local authorities in 21 counties have been provided with equipment for hiking trails, to be used for regular and organised group hikes with professional guidance.
The project promotes walking as an exceptionally healthy and efficient form of physical exercise, raising awareness of healthy lifestyles and motivating physically inactive people to adopt a healthy lifestyle thus protecting their health.
Hiking trails are adapted to all age groups, the HZJZ says.
The national programme “Healthy living” is co-financed by the European Social Fund and lasts from 2016 to 2022. It comprises five components – health education, health and physical activity, health and food, health and the workplace, and health and the environment.
