Impress hand out 300 krafne in Daruvar
Shrove Tuesday, also known as Mardi Gras, Carnival or Fat Tuesday, was celebrated across Croatia yesterday. One of the most popular treats on the day are Krafna, or marmalade-filled donuts.
In the Slavonian city of Daruvar, an association which promotes positive affirmation of youth in society, cheered up the town’s elder folk by handing out hundreds of delicious krafne.
The “Impress” association distributed a total of 300 krafne yesterday, and cheered up the town’s senior citizens, both those retired in their homes and those in homes for the elderly.
Under the leadership and on the initiative of Tanja Herceg, president and founder of the Impress Association, the international team which took part in the action included Masterchef Saša Savanović, Dragica Lovrić, Ronaldo Rovazdi, Bojana Vekić, Bojan Blažević, Mane Sergoyan, Anahit Ghazaryan, Nikolina Vojta, Magdalena Matoijato, Maja Kop, Matea Ružić, Leo Fel, Dubravko Šopar, Josip Dvoržaček and Žarko Alandžak.
“We are under masks all the time and we believe that without delaying the wait for better weather, our fellow citizens deserve the sweetest donuts. Impress is one positive story through which we do good things. Little things mean a lot to each of us and day by day we need to look for ways to brighten the day for everyone around us. I am proud of the team of people I have gathered and who continue to spread a positive story through every activity and every moment. The owner of a home for the elderly, Ana Ivandekić, was delighted with the initiative of young people.
“This time is extremely difficult for us because there is no socialising. Before the coronavirus, young people from Impress always visited us and we sang together, always creating something new, but now that is not possible and that is why little things like this mean a lot to us. We can’t wait for a better time when we will be able to hang out with Impress again.”
