If you have a flight booked with Croatia Airlines on Tuesday it may pay to double-check if it will still be flying after Croatia Airlines pilots, cabin crew and ground staff announced that they would strike on Tuesday.
A 1-hour strike is planned for Tuesday 14 May from 11am-12pm and a large number of planes are expected to be grounded on Tuesday as a result. The strike is the result of a breakdown in negotiations with the syndicate regarding a new collective agreement. Pilots, cabin crew and ground staff will not accept additional cuts to their rights they had under the old collective agreement, primarily concerning leave entitlement and free days.
On 1 May Croatia Airlines had to cancel 3 routes after 48 members of its cabin crew staff were off on sick leave. Croatia Airlines board announced that they would sack 42 members of staff they believed were ‘faking’ and had called in sick to exercise ‘informal protests’.
