There is a large Croatian community in Australia and they will once again be getting up in the small hours of the morning to support Croatia at Euro 2020 which kicks off this weekend.
Croatia takes on England in the opening match at 11 p.m. Sydney time and one family has gone the extra mile to show their support for the Vatreni.
Steve and Monika Marinic have spent two days creating an epic TV room at their home in Gregory Hills, Sydney, Australia from where they will watch Croatia’s matches with their four daughters and friends.
“We are passionate footballs fans and our 4 girls are passionate too. To decorate the family home, it took over 2 nights as we were waiting for deliveries to come,” Monika, who’s family roots are from Karlovac and Slunj in Croatia, explained.
Steve, who’s family is from Zadar and the island of Pag, came up with the idea to turn the TV room into a Vatreni shrine.
The Marinic’s will be hosting a Euro Party for the opening match against England.
“We anticipate to have over 30 guests including children. We will be hosting a BBQ as a pre game meal and then have music in the background before kick off. As it’s cold in Sydney, we might even do a kolo to warm up,” Monika says.

Monika says that the family’s favourite players in their beloved Croatian team are Luka Modric, Ivan Perišić, Mateo Kovačić and Dejan Lovren.
“There will be enough of us on Sunday to sing, chant and watch our beloved Vatreni. Jedva čekamo,” Monika concluded.
