When it comes to distance covered at this year’s Euro 2020, Croatia has not feared too well compared to other nations.

Although when it comes to speed, they have been holding their own. UEFA has published data that revealed which players have clocked the top speeds at the tournament so far after the group stages.

Whilst most would think Kylian Mbappé is near the top, the France striker is not even in the top 20. In fact, young Croatian defender Joško Gvardiol is 16 places ahead of him.

According to the official data provided by UEFA, Hungary defender Loic Nego and Italy’s Leonardo Spinazzola have recorded the joint-highest top speed, accelerating to 33.8 km/h.

France’s Kingsley Coman is next on the list, being clocked at a top-speed of 33.7 km/h. Cody Gakpo from the Netherlands is next with 33.7 km/h, followed by Wales midfielder Daniel James.

Joško Gvardiol is 6th on the list, being recorded at a top speed in full flight of 33.3 km/h.
