Now, the first Croatian soccer tournament has been held in Ireland, which has developed its own Croatian community over the past decade.
Last weekend, seven teams took part in the first Croatian soccer tournament in Ireland in the southeast city of Waterford.
Teams which took part were – Šaka talenta, A je to, Croatia Limerick, Respect, Vatreni, Croatia Fermoy and Croatia Waterford.
Šaka talenta from Dublin won the inaugural tournament, beating A je to, who were also from Dublin, in the final.
The aim of the first Croatian tournament in Ireland was to unite Croats in the country and have a good time in the process.
The Croatian community in Ireland has been building over the last decade and now along with meetings in the Croatian Catholic Mission in Dublin, and in some places Croatian language classes, the community has its own football tournament.
