On the 26th of June, the Croatian Community of North Fremantle in Western Australia, celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the Declaration of Croatian Independence.
This historical occasion called for a special event to mark its importance. For this reason, the Croatian Folkloric Group Zagreb hosted a night to remember.
Croatian Folkloric Group ‘Zagreb’ welcomed 350 guests including Dignitaries; Consul of the Republic of Croatian Zoran Šangut, Velečasni Nikola Čabraja, with representatives of State Government and Opposition Members and representatives of Local Government.
The Master of Ceremonies role was jointly filled by Ivana Marijanović and Raymond Pecotic. They navigated the evenings proceedings of speeches and performances with ease professionalism.
After formalities and an opportunity to remember those who have sacrificed everything, for a free and independent Croatia, guests indulged in a culinary feast, prepared by chef Stipe Lozić.
Entertainment for the evening, was provided by much loved local musicians Stanko Panić and Raymond Pecotić better known as, Laganini.
The pinnacle of the evening was a series of moving performances by the Croatian Folkloric Group Zagreb.
The senior and junior groups opened the evening performing a poignant rendition of “Bože Čuvaj Hrvatsku”. This was by far the highlight of the evening with all 70 Zagreb members on stage performing as one.
The audiences applause and thrilled reaction showed their appreciation. Amongst several other items, the Junior members of Zagreb performed the well known and sentimental favourite “Moja Domovina”, which left not a dry eye in the house.
This is testimony of the hard work and dedication of Zagreb’s President/Teacher Zrinka Vlašić, her Teaching Team Gordana Slišković, Anita Ćudina, Mirjana Worrad and supportive Parents. We look forward to many more successful events and performances from this vibrant and active folkloric group, with a very bright future.
Overall, an incredibly entertaining and successful night, in recognition of thirty years of the Declaration of Croatia’s independence.
