68th Pula Film Festival opens at Arena

PULA, 18 July 2021 – The 68th Pula Film Festival – Croatia’s oldest film festival – opened at the magnificent Pula Arena in Pula last night.
The festival was opened with a screening of the film “Murina” by Antoneta Alamat Kusijanović in front of a crowd of 1,500 people.
The film, which won the Camera d’Or – Golden Camera – award at the Cannes Film Festival also last night, is a psychological family drama set over the course of four days on one of the Croatian islands.

The Pula Film Festival this year is being held in 15 locations, four of which are reserved for the film programme, and of the films in competition, there are six Croatian and ten co-productions.

“Pula is a city of culture, Pula is the Croatian Rome, and that evokes respect, and culture in a special way. Film sums up all the arts, and that is a special feeling of freedom, the freedom we always have to talk about,” said Pula Mayor Filip Zoričić.

The 68th Pula Film Festival will close on 24 July, and will include more than 40 film screenings, six exhibitions, a book presentation, and a rich music programme. Tickets can be purchased at the Festival Info Point at Giardini, at www.pulafilmfestival.hr, which also offers information on the schedule of screenings and the side programmes.

No COVID passports are required to enter the Arena, the number of visitors is limited to 1,500, with adherence to epidemiological measures.
