Dutch version of ‘Survivor’ filmed in Croatia to hit screens

The Dutch version of reality television show ‘Survivor’ has been filmed in Croatia, with the show set to hit screens next month.
‘Expeditie Robinson’ is usually filmed in the Philippines, but with filming not able to go ahead because of the pandemic, the production crew selected Croatia.
Over the past few months, the series was filmed on the Croatian island of Dugi Otok, just west of Zadar, with a number of locals working on the production, Slobodna Dalmacija reported.
“Dugi Otok is a place of fantastic natural beauty that served as an excellent backdrop for filming episodes of ‘Expeditie Robinson’ such as Sakarun beach, mysterious caves, Telašćica Nature Park, Salt Lake, maritime tunnel hideouts and numerous other attractions that the island abounds in.”

A number of locals worked on the production in logistics including organising accommodation for television crews and participants and scenography.
The series will return to RTL 4 on August 29, RTL Boulevard reported, stating that the new series was filmed in Croatia. Nicolette Kluijver and Kaj Gorgels will again present the program.
Expeditie Robinson debuted in 2000 and is popular in the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium). It was the second production worldwide of a format first shown in Swedish TV in 1997. The format, most notable under the title Survivor, has since then also been produced in many other countries. The name of the show alludes to Robinson Crusoe, a story featuring people marooned by shipwreck.
