PHOTOS: President observes damage caused by devastating fire near Trogir from the air

ZAGREB, 4 August 2021 – On Wednesday, the President of Croatia Zoran Milanović, together with the Chief Fire Chief Slavko Tucaković, visited the devastated areas near Seget Gornji, Trogir on the Dalmatian coast by helicopter.
The fire in Seget Gornji is entering its third day, it is still active in inaccessible parts, and by this morning it had burned about 1,600 hectares of low vegetation, macchia, pine and some olive groves, according to the Split County Fire and Operations Centre.

Early this morning, two Canadian planes joined in putting out what is the biggest fire on the coast in the last four years. During the night, there were 106 firefighters on the field with 37 vehicles, and a redistribution of forces is expected this morning.

In addition to their strength, firefighters have high hopes for the weather forecast, which is predicting rain for Thursday in the wider Split area.
During the president’s visit to the Operational Fire Command of Croatia at the Divulje military base in Split, representatives of the Fire Command and the Croatian Air Force informed President Milanović about the engagement of firefighters and firefighting activities, as well as assistance provided by the Croatian Army in firefighting interventions.

Accompanied by the Chief Fire Chief, President Milanović visited the devastated and thanked the firefighters and all those who were engaged in extinguishing the fire for their sacrifice and several days of work in curbing the fire.
