Popular Croatian Strudel Fest starts again with week of sweet fun

The small Croatian town of Jaškovo, near Karlovac, which previously held the Guinness record for the world’s longest strudel – 1,479.38 metres – is continuing the traditional story of its favourite pastry with the 6th edition of Strudel Fest.
The festival this year will take place from 3-5 September and the charming village of Jaškovo is preparing a unique combination of gastronomy, sports, culture, art, but also a lot of fun for young and old.
Strudel Fest is a real paradise for strudel lovers because in addition to the delicious flavours of homemade strudel that you can buy at dozens of stalls, strudel is all around you.
Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a picnic in the deep shade next to the spring, but also to enjoy creative workshops where you can paint your own strudel plate. There is also an art workshop Art Apetit, but also strudel ambassadors who will reveal all the secrets of making this delicious treat.
This year, kids can expect a series of workshops and activities – sports, gastro and creative, and to make everything even more beautiful and fairytale-like, Ivana Brlić Mažuranić is coming from Ogulin.
There is also strudel by bike, a route that takes you through the beautiful landscape, forests and fields of the Jaškovo region, and strudel by boat, an attractive strudel safari on the Dobra River.
Also, from 30 August until September 5, as twenty restaurants in the Karlovac region will be offering studded at promotional prices.
During Strudel Week, a gift is waiting for you when you purchase tickets for the Karlovac City Museum, the Old Town of Dubovac, Barać’s Caves in Grabovac, and the Homeland War Museum in Ozalj, which has also prepared a series of workshops at the Ethno Park.
The unique Žitna lađa will have special cruises with strudel tasting, and the Strudel Week also included the Homeland War Museum and Ivana’s fairytale house in Ogulin.
Visitors can also enjoy the gastro show “Dalmatia in the strudel village”, which will take place under the culinary baton of Ivan Pažanin. This year’s edition of Strudel Fest will be closed by Damir Kedžo, who is preparing an acoustic concert.
