Mali Lošinj named among world’s top green and sustainable destinations

ZAGREB, October 7, 2021 – The town of Mali Lošinj on the island of Lošinj has been included once again among the top green and sustainable green destinations in the world.
Mali Lošinj was named on the list of the world’s top 100 green and sustainable destinations published by the Green Destination international organisation.
The Sustainable Top 100 Destinations competition is organised to showcase sustainable tourism and good practice stories and to share inspirational examples with other destinations, tour operators and travellers.
The small Croatian town has made the list for a number of years and this year also competed in the “Culture & Communities” category with a monument to the island’s shipbuilding tradition, the lugger Nerezinac, which was restored and turned into an interpretation centre, the Mali Lošinj Tourist Board said.
The wooden sailing vessel is now a museum in the open and a another tourist attraction on the island. the tourist board said.
Two other Croatian destinations also made the list – the Lika Cluster and Istria with the theme “Palud – Biodiversity protection in small-scale wetland area” in the “Nature & Ecotourism” category.
