Lynx Charge is a very complex technological product developed by Rasco who collaborated together with the Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER). The vehicle is intended for the maintenance of public areas and is fully developed in Croatia.
ZAGREB, 13 October 2021 – That Croatia has all the resources for the development of large hi-tech innovations was confirmed today at Zagreb’s Lauba, where the first Croatian compact electric road sweeper, Lynx Charge, was presented.
This self-propelled vehicle intended for the maintenance of public areas was developed by one of the largest European manufacturers of municipal equipment, the company Rasco from Kalinovac, in cooperation with the Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. The innovation is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
Lynx is a completely Croatian product intended for the world market. Two years ago, the company introduced this vehicle in a diesel variant and achieved a notable result with it thanks to Lynx’s compact dimensions and unique technical solutions. They expect even more from the electric version as the market for eco-friendly vehicles grows faster than those powered by fossil fuels.
“Lynx Charge has almost all the systems that an electric car has, which makes it an extremely complex product. We worked on its development for three years and together with the diesel version, it is the crown of the company’s 30-year work. This Croatian innovation is intended for cleaning urban areas, so we believe that our cities and municipalities will show interest in it. We will offer it through our distribution network to more than 40 markets around the world, but we would be glad if the advantages of such an ecological vehicle are recognised by Croatian utilities,” said CEO Ivan Franičević, emphasising that Rasco is one of the fastest growing companies in the utility vehicle industry and the only significant player to break out of the local framework into the global market with this type of equipment in the last 30 years.
The 72.5 kWh electric Lynx battery allows it to work throughout the work shift without the need for recharging. A two-cubic meter waste tank and 400 litres of water stored in double tanks contribute to vehicle autonomy.
The sweeper is powered by an electric motor with a maximum power of 55 kW, and two other electric motors with a power of 18.5 and 11.5 kW are used to drive the intake system and other vehicle functions. All this is integrated into a compact vehicle 4.5 meters long and only 1.3 meters wide.
Rasco manufactures about 80 different products for winter and summer maintenance of all types of transport infrastructure – from highways, through expressways and urban areas to forest roads and watercourses.
Their plants in Kalinovac near Đurđevac and in Senta in Serbia employ more than 400 people. At the local level, they are one of the drivers of the development of northwestern Croatia, while their goal is to become the largest manufacturer of municipal equipment in Europe.
