The traditional annual Croatian water polo annual calendar has been shot in Split, the location for the men’s and women’s European Water Polo Championships next year.
The calendar features 12 water polo couples for each of the 12 months shot at 12 authentic tourist attractions of the city of Split, which was chosen to host the 2022 European Water Polo Championships.
“It is no coincidence that the city of Split was chosen to host the European Championship. It is known that the people of Split love sports and water polo. We expect a great atmosphere in the stands of the Spaladium Arena next summer. During the shooting of the calendar, the beautiful views of this city played the role of the main backdrop for our water polo players and photographer Šime Eškinja to present the venue of the championship in the best possible way and invite all Europeans to visit Croatia and Split next year,” said Ivana Janković, PR and Marketing manager of the Croatian Water Polo Federation.
The Callegari school in Split, led by school principal Ivana Zelić and make-up artists Julija Koludrović, Emma Šošić, Ilijana Jurčević, Helena Stanić and stylist Ela Igrec, happily joined the project, while the well-known Split hairdresser Tomislav Gelolo was in charge of the hair of all water polo players.
“We enjoyed the idyllic surroundings and taking photos at the most famous tourist locations in Split. The Croatian design ‘Hippy Garden’ dresses worn by all the girls were beautiful, and the boys were also handsome in Galileo suits,” said the smiling national team member Emmi Miljković.
The European Championships will be held from August 27 to September 10, 2022. In the men’s competition, direct placement at the European Championships in Split was secured by the teams that were placed in the top 8 at the last European Championship in Budapest in 2020, namely Hungary, Spain, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Greece and Russia.
Spain, Russia, Hungary, the Netherlands Italy, and host Croatia will participate in the women’s championships.
In the face of such an important sporting event, the world-renowned water sports company Malmsten, which has a reputation as a world leader and partner of the umbrella water polo organisations FINA and LEN, decided to become a partner of the Croatian Water Polo Federation.
“As always, we were now looking for ways to connect with the best. On this occasion, we present a new water polo ball that we place in the countries with the greatest water polo history and successes. As a result, the Croatian Water Polo Federation and the Adriatic League, as the world’s leading water polo brands, have imposed themselves as new partners. We are extremely happy and proud to be starting a one we believe successful and long term cooperation. The Malmsten ball will thus be the official ball of the Croatian Championships for all ages of both sexes, as well as in the Adriatic League,” said Dragan Jovanović, Malmsten’s representative.
