Last Thursday, Vukovar honored defenders and civilians who lost their lives, as well as those still missing, during the fall of the city 30 years ago. The 30th anniversary of the fall of Vukovar was marked all over Croatia, and also abroad.
Organized by the Croatian World Congress of the USA in Los Angeles, the Croatian community of St. Anthony’s Croatian Parish Center on Sunday also marked the 30th anniversary of the suffering of the city of heroes, Vukovar, Škabrnja and all other cities and villages of the homeland.
Renee Pea, Consul General of the Croatian Consulate in Los Angeles, addressed the audience on behalf of the Consulate General of LA.
Jeffrey Bacic, from the Croatian World Congress of the USA, presented the horrors of civilian casualties and the extent of the destruction of the city by day and night bombing, through photographs and short excerpts from documentaries from the Homeland War.
On behalf of the Croatian World Congress of the USA, Bacic also thanked all veterans and their families, especially those who went from abroad to defend the homeland Croatia.
