Marin Čilić beats world No.6 to reach Australian Open last 16

Marin Čilić has upset 5th seed and world No.6 Andrey Rublev on Saturday to reach the 4th round of the Australian Open.
Čilić, who is the tournament’s 27th seed, has been spurred on this week by Australian-Croatian fans, put on an impressive display on Saturday evening on Margaret Court Arena, beating the Russian in four sets 7-5, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.
“Incredible atmosphere. I enjoyed every second of the match. I had a great time and played great tennis,” said Čilić, who broke a series of four consecutive losses against Rublev.
Čilić beat Emilio Gomez in the opening round in straight sets before beating Norbert Gombos in four sets in the second round.
Next up for Čilić in the fourth round is 9th-seed Felix Auger-Aliassime from Canada.

Čilić is already guaranteed $221,000 for his efforts so far.
The 33-year-old Croatian reached the final of the Australian Open in 2018 but lost to Roger Federer.
