Plitvice Lakes celebrating birthday with week of big discounts

Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest and largest national park in Croatia and next week it will be celebrating its 73rd birthday. 

With its exceptional natural beauty, the area has always attracted nature lovers and on 8 April, 1949, it was proclaimed the first national park in Croatia.  

“We celebrate this date as the birthday of our park. The unique values of this area have been recognised by UNESCO, which thirty years later in 1979 included the Plitvice Lakes National Park on its World Heritage List. To celebrate our 73rd birthday, we have prepared special ticket prices for you during the birthday week,” the national park announced. 

From 4-10 April 2022, entry will be 80 kuna for adults, 50 kuna for students and 30 kuna for kids between 7-18. There is free entry for kids under 7. 

Normal entry ticket prices for this period are 180 kuna for adults, 110 kuna for students, and 50 kuna for kids between 7-18.

The national park is world-famous for its lakes arranged in cascades. Sixteen lakes can be seen from the surface and are a result of the confluence of several small rivers and subterranean karst rivers. The lakes are all interconnected and follow the water flow.
