PHOTOS: Croatian ensamble LADO perform concerts in Rome

Croatia’s LADO ensemble has embarked on a tour with their new Easter concerts. After the first concert held on Easter Monday in Zagreb, the highlight of the tour was the performance of this program to an international audience in Rome.

LADO held two concerts in Rome. The first was on April 22 at the famous Roman conservatory Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia, while the second concert was held on April 23 at the Pontifical Croatian Institute of St. Jerome.

In addition to performing songs from the first Easter album “Veliko je sad veselje – hrvatske uskrsne pučke popijevke”, concerts in Rome marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Croatia and Italy and marked the Italian international recognition of Croatia.

The first concert was dedicated to the anniversary, held on Friday, April 22, at the Conservatory of St. Cecilia in Rome, organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in Italy.

The concert in the Church of St. Jerome was attended by members of the Croatian community in Rome with the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Italy Jasen Mesić, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the Holy See Teo Zupičić, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Holy See Igor Žontar and other diplomats.

The welcome before the concert was expressed by the rector of the Institute of the Church of St. Jerome, Marko Đurin.

At the concerts, 14 vocal-instrumental points from the first album of the LADO Ensemble with an Easter theme were performed. “Veliko je sad veselje – hrvatske uskrsne pučke popijevke” was produced and released in the midst of uncertain pandemic circumstances and was affirmed by the audience, as well as the profession, which declared it the best album of folk music at the 29th Porin awards.
