Prince and Princess Akashino of Japan have met with Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic and Parliament President Josip Leko in Zagreb on Thursday as part of their 4-day official visit to celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Speaking in a stifling hot Croatian capital on Thursday, Prince Akashino was quick to praise Croatians for their help after the devastating earthquake and tsunami rocked the nation 2 years ago.
“I know Croatia invited the kids from Sendai for a holiday then, that strengthened our relationship,” said the Prince at a mass at Zagreb’s cathedral, adding that because of Croatia’s experience with war victims, they showed a great understanding for the victims of the Japanese earthquake. The Prince and his wife will remain in Croatia until Sunday.
