Čilić’s record-setting run at Roland Garros ends

It has been a phenomenal couple of weeks for Marin Čilić, but his dream run at the French Open has come to an end on Friday in the semi-finals.
The Croatian went down to Norwegian Casper Ruud in the semi-final on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Čilić would claim the first set, but the No. 8 seed would then show his class to come back to take the next three sets to win 3:6, 6:4, 6:2, 6:2.
Ruud will now face Rafa Nadal in Sunday’s final.
The 33-year-old Čilič, who was written off by most people, will have fond memories of this tournament.
Not only did he beat the No.2 seed, Daniil Medvedev, and the No.7 seed, Andrey Rublev, on his way to the last four, but he entered the records books for becoming the first Croatian to reach the semi-finals at all four Grand Slams.

He is only one of four current players on the tour to reach the semi-finals at all four Grand Slams, and the 9th in history.
