Ston & Mali Ston – more than walls, wine and oysters

Ston, and its smaller ‘sister’ Mali Ston, which means Little Ston, are located on Croatia’s Pelješac peninsula.

The area is know for a few things, like its world-famous oysters, 14th century salt pans and top quality wine, but its most famous attraction is the Walls of Ston, which are the second longest preserved fortification system in the world and the longest in Europe.

But there is a lot more to Ston and Mali Ston which tourists do not know about.

Stanko Zovak invited Sanja Bubalo from the Tourist Board of Ston to be a guest of the All Things Croatia podcast to find out more about the picturesque part of southern Croatia.

Born in Mali Ston, Sanja returned home after finishing her studies in Zagreb and has worked at the Tourist Board of Ston for over four years.

In the episode, she talks about the “hidden” gems of Ston and Mali Ston, and what they have to offer. She also talks about the world-famous oysters that are only able to be found there, as well as the famous Walls of Ston, salt pans, beaches and some other tips for tourists.
