Špancirfest festival kicks off in Varaždin

ZAGREB, 20 Aug (Hina) – The 24th edition of the Špancirfest street festival started in the northern Croatian city of Varaždin on Friday.
There will be over 500 various events, including street performances and 30 concerts and other entertainment events and workshops during the festival that will run through 28 August.
The director of the Varaždin Tourist Board, Jelena Toth, told Hina that last year, 230,000 guests had visited Varaždin during this festival.
She hopes that this year nearly 300,000 visitors would arrive in the city to attend the festival’s programmes.
The whole project is worth 4.5 million kuna (€600,000), Mayor Neven Bosilj told the press in July, adding that the city supports the festival with HRK 1.3 million (€173,00).
