Hotel Grand, a ruin from the Homeland War in 1991, will represent the ruins from World War II in a new film.
Everything is slowly being prepared for filming and whilst not many details have been revealed, what is known is that the ruins will be one of the locations where filming will take place in the second half of September.
As Dnevnik.hr reports, the film will be about the legendary Vogue magazine photographer, Lee Miller, who will be played by Kate Winslet (46). The film is also set to star Jude Law (49) and Marion Cotillard (46).
Also in Dubrovnik, filming of the popular series ‘Vikings of Valhalla’ will soon begin. This is a large production that should employ a significant number of local people. The producers are also looking for several hundred extras, and applications are still open.
The local authorities have asked citizens for their understanding in case of closing certain locations due to filming needs. Given that Dubrovnik is a very desirable location for film sets, the city has had a price list for public areas for filming for years.
“I believe that these amounts will exceed several million for these two filmings that take place one after the other, when all the services that will be used and all the costs that the production company will incur in the area of Dubrovnik are added up,” Deputy Mayor Jelka Tepšić told Dnevnik.hr.
Apart from the well documented Game of Thrones, Dubrovnik has also been used a film set for major films like Star Wars and Robin Hood.
