ZAGREB, 18 Oct (Hina) – Poland won the 2022 World Olive Picking Championship in Postira on Brač island, held on 13-16 October, picking 48 kilograms, four more than the second placed Croatia, while Bosnia and Herzegovina was third with 31 kg.
The championship was organised by the Postira Municipal Tourist Board for the fifth time in a row. Eleven teams participated, including one made up of digital nomads from Finland, Netherlands, England, and the United States.
“Events such as these and their good communication considerably contribute to Croatia’s popularity among digital nomads from all over the world,” said Tanja Polegubić, co-founder of the Association of Digital Nomads of Croatia.
The director of the Postira Tourist Board, Ivana Jelinčić, said the participants’ “enthusiastic reactions” confirmed that this event promoted Postira’s tourism and olive growing “in the best light.”
The event included an olive growing quiz won by the Montenegrin team.
In 2019, the World Olive Picking Championship won first prize from the Creative Tourism Network nonprofit in the Best Creative Experience category among more than 160 nominated events.
