Davis Cup: Croatia selects team for quarterfinal clash with Spain

Croatia coach Vedran Martić has selected his team for the upcoming Davis Cup quarterfinal clash with Spain.
Croatia takes on Spain first up in the quarterfinals during Davis Cup Finals week which will be held from 22-27 November in Malaga, Spain.
The team named this week includes all Croatia’s best-ranked players on the singles and doubles rankings.
Croatia: Marin Čilić (World no. 16), Borna Ćorić (27th), Borna Gojo (182nd), Mate Pavić (World no. 7 doubles player) and Nikola Mektić (8th).
This will be the first time since the 2018 Davis Cup final that Marin Čilić and Borna Ćorić, Croatia’s two best singles players, will be in the lineup at the same time.
Croatia will play Spain on 23 November with a 4 pm start time.
Spain have also named their side which includes world no. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, Pablo Carreno Busta (15th), Roberto Bautista Agut (22nd) and Marcel Granollers (12th).
The winner of the Croatia v Spain clash will meet the winner of the Australia v Netherlands quarterfinal in the semifinals.

Croatia and Spain have met three times in the Davis Cup so far, and on all three occasions Spain has been triumphant. The first match in Malaga will be played by the second-ranked tennis players of both teams, followed by a duel between the top-ranked tennis players, and then a doubles match will be scheduled.
Croatia is currently ranked no.1 in the Davis Cup rankings, thanks to great results during the last four seasons with a title win in 2018 and runner-up in 2021. Spain, a six-time winner of this competition, is ranked second behind Croatia.
