Croatian-American actor & filmmaker becomes board member of an American Film Festival 

Croatian-American Actor Johnny Kera

Bedford, Virginia- Actor, producer and writer Johnny Kera becomes a board member for the Bedford International Film Festival in Bedford, Virginia. 

Kera was a judge four years ago at the first annual event, judging independent films from around the world, including films from Croatia. 

Now the event is going on its fifth year where he is now a board member of the event, whose job duties will be getting filmmakers and writers to submit their completed projects to the event and working with corporate sponsors who wish to donate funds in exchange for advertising their company or product. 

Kera has two films that are in completion and currently in post-production, one of which one is entitled Murderous MariGuana, in which he plays two roles in the film as a villainous character. 

“I was very fortunate enough to be part of this film and we’ve worked very hard on a low budget film before the pandemic hit the U.S. and the shut down of film production throughout California.” Kera said, “I was asked by my producing partner and founder Laura Willoughby who produced Murderous MariGuana to be a board member of the film festival in Bedford, Virginia. She also asked me and my other producing partner Nathainel Morin to be a panelist judge for the first annual event four years ago.” 

The second film Kera co-produced with Morin and Willoughby is a comedy/horror film entitled Poker Face that stars Jeremy Miller (TV’s Growing Pains). 

“I like producing as well since it gets me on the business and marketing side of the production. I still love acting, but work is work no matter what position I am looking to be part of in this industry.”

The film festival starts in early July 2023 as the event is accepting completed films and screenplays from filmmakers around the globe. To submit a completed film or screenplay, head on over to www.filmfreeway.com.
