A guide to Zagreb’s Food Truck Festival which is set to return

Food Truck Festival to take place in Zagreb and Rijeka this summer

The green oasis of Lake Jarun in Zagreb will once again be the epicenter of the most delicious street food in Zagreb, along with great music and entertainment for both young and old at the Food Truck Festival.

The festival will take place from May 31st to June 18th, and the organizers have ensured an excellent selection of food and drinks, as well as a musical and entertaining background that will leave every visitor breathless.

The Food Truck Festival will be held in the open space of Lake Jarun, near the famous Aquarius club. During the weekdays, visitors can enjoy the festival from 4 pm until midnight, while on weekends, the program extends until 1 am.

The festival consists of several themed zones: “Klopa” powered by Zvijezda, “Cuga” powered by Badel, “Pivska” powered by Karlovačko, “Relax” powered by Kaufland, “Koktel” powered by Sir Edmond gin, “Vinska” powered by Kutjevo, “Dječija” (Children’s), and “Mjuza” zone powered by Hendricks.

Along with five food trucks offering the best street food, the festival will also have a Sweet Zone that no one will be able to resist. A new addition to the festival is that visitors will be able to enjoy themed weeks, namely “Italy,” “South America,” and “Asia,” during which each of the delectable trucks will prepare their bites in line with the theme.

In the “Klopa” zone, the following vendors have been confirmed:

BBQ Hot Yard Bar: The team behind the project is the same one that started VolimLjuto.com and SpicyDays.com, with the main “culprit” and BBQ chef being Davor Šušković, along with the spice and hedonism lover Goran Vrabec. They are also the winners of the “Best Burger” award at the 2022 Zagreb Burger Festival. If you love American BBQ culture, this is the first choice for you.
Cromaris: Known for their fish specialties in street food form, Cromaris will offer Mediterranean bites such as spicy ham skewers, a sandwich with smoked sea bream and fennel, and noodles with sesame, spinach, and sea bass fillet.
Dubrava Food Makers: Along with their recognizable hot dogs, turkey sandwiches, and pulled veal, they will also offer vegetarian bites in collaboration with Planet Of Plants.
Pri Suncu: Pastry Chef Nina Šarić makes authentic Italian gelato, and many claim that this is the best artisanal ice cream in Zagreb. Flavors like pistachio, almond with honey, or fresh peach will win over every festival visitor.
Ferdinand Knedle: “I am the king, and I want dumplings.” The most popular dumplings in Zagreb are the ones with pistachio and Nutella, as well as the “Princess from Madagascar,” which is filled with vanilla cream. You will have the premiere opportunity to taste one of the most sought-after desserts in Zagreb at the Food Truck Festival.

There are still a few more gastronomic and sweet surprises, as well as performances by famous chefs, which the Food Truck Festival is saving for the start of the festival. In the Kaufland Relax Zone, visitors will be able to taste fresh fruit at a stand.

During the festival, visitors will be able to enjoy various concert performances from Wednesday to Sunday of each festival week. On weekdays, the concerts start at 7:00 PM, while on weekends they start at 8:00 PM, and admission is free for all.

The festival’s novelty this year will be the “Art & Wine” creative studio that brings you the best of art and wine. Workshops will take place every festival Saturday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The ticket price of 25 euros for the Art & Wine workshops, which you can purchase at www.artandwine.hr, includes two glasses of Kutjevo wine and guidance from artist instructors.

The festival will operate on weekdays from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM and on weekends from 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM. The festival location is Jarun Lake, next to the Aquarius Club. Admission to the festival is free, and Jarun is an ideal place for a family outing, hanging out with friends, after-work activities, or a romantic sunset.
