The town with the most single men in Croatia, according to recent census statistics, have sent an official public invitation to the women in the place with the most unmarried women in Croatia to ‘come party and mingle’.
The Mayor of Levanjska Varos (Osijek-Baranja county) in eastern Croatia, Slavko Tidlacka has sent the invitation to his counterpart in Smokvica on the island of Korcula after recent census statistics put both places in the media spotlight after revealing them as the places with the highest percentages of unmarried men and women respectively in all of Croatia.
“70% of our town is forest, if the women from Smokvica come they will be satisfied. Our men maybe not married, but they are not alcoholics or criminals, in fact they are ideal marriage material,” said Tidlacka to daily 24sata.
Last week’s census statistics revealed that just 53% of women and 58% of men were married in Croatia, with the most amount of unmarried women in living on the Adriatic coast, with the top two places belonging to Smokvica and Blato on the Dalmatian island of Korcula. One single Levanjska Varos resident says that they should not be waiting for the reply from Smokvica’s ladies and that they should head down there.
