From Ireland to Croatia: H&MV Engineering opens office and high-skilled job opportunities

H&MV Engineering, a company specialising in the design, construction, and commissioning of high-voltage substations and related infrastructure for connecting renewable energy sources and large consumers to the power grid, has recently opened its first office in Croatia in the city of Osijek. 

The company’s ambitious plans include the employment of approximately 70 highly skilled engineers over the next few years. This development marks a significant milestone for both the city of Osijek and the company itself, Grad Osijek said.

P.J. Flanagan, the owner and CEO of H&MV Engineering, expressed his enthusiasm during the opening ceremony, stating, “Over the next three to five years, we will be hiring up to 70 individuals with top-notch engineering degrees for high-quality positions. This is fantastic news for the city, and we are delighted to contribute to the creation of new job opportunities here. We are engaged in projects worldwide, in the renewable energy sector and data centres, and this is a proud moment for us.”

The establishment of this office reflects the growth of Osijek in every sense, and it is a remarkable success story that involves individuals who completed their studies at FERIT, a university in Osijek, and initially went to work for this company in Ireland. Now, they are returning to Osijek, bringing with them this valuable investment. Dragan Vulin, the Deputy Mayor of Osijek, shared his thoughts on this positive trend, saying, “Our people are coming back, and they will bring new talent to Osijek.”

The economic aspect plays a pivotal role in driving these developments. The Osijek-Baranja County is heavily invested in the economy, providing incentives, interest-free loans, and low-interest loans to support entrepreneurs and the agricultural community.

The recent opening of the Regional Distribution Center and the ongoing development of the Economic Centre further demonstrate the commitment to economic growth and entrepreneurship. “The Osijek-Baranja County is open to entrepreneurs, ready to assist with whatever they need,” emphasised Ivana Bagarić, the President of the County Assembly.

The ceremonial opening of the office on Freedom Square in Osijek was attended by various dignitaries, including the Ambassador of Ireland to the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Ruaidhri Mark Dowling, Professor Marinko Barukčić from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Information Technology in Osijek, as well as Dražen Tubić, an engineering manager at H&MV Engineering and a native of Osijek.

With its headquarters in Limerick, Ireland, H&MV Engineering was established in 1997 and currently employs over 700 people globally. This expansion into Osijek represents a significant step forward for the company, the city, and the region, highlighting the potential for growth and innovation in the field of renewable energy and engineering.
