The solo exhibition of Croatian artist Ivana Svjetličić called “Shapes and colors that make you feel better” opened on Saturday in New York’s Little Field Gallery. The exhibition will be on view until October 4, 2023.
“I believe that this exhibition will attract great and positive attention from both the media and the general public. ‘Shapes and colors that make you feel better’ demonstrates and brings joy and inspiration which is something we need in these unstable times. As collaborators of the arts in New York, we continue to exhibit works of art that will intrigue, inspire and educate New Yorkers and its visitors, and this exhibition is sure to achieve all that with its images and curator”, stated Julie Kim, co-owner of the gallery, in the invitation to the exhibition.
This is not the first time that Svjetličić has attracted the attention of New York galleries. She had her first exhibition in March 2022 at the Van Der Plas gallery. After that exhibition, she received an invitation to participate in a campaign where her pictures, along with the works of 34 other artists, were displayed on the screens of airports, shopping centers, streets, designer stores and similar places in New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Paris and London.
She also attracted special attention with her painting “Kolorita”, which was selected for the exhibition “Wide open 12” at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition. Of all the submitted works, “Kolorita” was selected in the top 60 presented at the exhibition, and it was also the only painting by a European author at the said exhibition. Earlier this year, she also exhibited her works at the “Reveries” exhibition at the Azur Gallery in Madrid.
In her artworks, Svjetličić emphasizes joy and positive vibes because she expresses herself in moments of greatest happiness. In principle, her painting is not just a ‘drawing’, but a source of positive emotions that she wants the viewer to feel.
“I am very satisfied with the opening of the exhibition and the response of people, especially considering that I don’t live in New York. I hope that as many people as possible will visit LittleField Gallery to see my works,” said Svjetličić.
