In a display of determination and teamwork, a group of five Canadians has etched their names into the pages of the Guinness World Records.
On the picturesque waters of Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard in Quebec, Canada, Jason Kovac, Gabriel Quesnel, Dominic Scotti, Jeremie Pozywiak, and Alexandre Portugais claimed the world record for the largest flag flown on a personal watercraft (PWC).
The record-breaking Croatian flag, a symbol of national pride, measured an impressive 39.73 square meters (427.75 square feet). The flag wasn’t just waved on any ordinary flagpole—it was hoisted on a giant flagpole attached to the back of a jet ski.
The Croatian flag fluttered proudly in the wind for a minimum of two minutes. This accomplishment not only set a new world record but also showcased the beauty of the Croatian flag in a unique setting.
Reflecting on this historic moment, Croatian-Canadian Jason Kovac, the driving force behind the record attempt, shared his excitement.
“The beautiful Croatian flag is now the world’s largest flag ever to fly on a jet ski, and was achieved in Saint-Adolphe-d’Howard, Quebec, Canada,” he said, adding.
“For the past year I’ve been working working really hard planning and preparing for this world record, and would not have been possible without the help of my friends: Dominic Scotti, Gabriel Quesnel, Jeremie Pozywiak and Alexandre Portugais who are officially record holders alongside myself. Special thanks to the volunteers and others who helped out during the official world record attempt.”
In a nod to the impact of the Guinness World Records on his life, Kovac shared, “Since a very young age, I grew up reading the book of Guinness World Records in my school library, and always dreamed of getting my own world record someday.”
