The 50 most common baby names in Croatia

The Ministry of Justice and Administration has released the latest data on the names that Croatians most frequently give to their newborn children. 

As Večernji list writes, although the data is new, there are not significant changes in the top 50 names. 

During the period from July 1st to September 30th 2023, the most common name for boys was Luka, with 169 occurrences. 

This has been the most common name in several previous analysed periods. Following Luka, the most common names were Jakov (151), David (129), and Toma (113).

For baby girls, there was a change in the top position, and from July 1st to September 30th, the most common name for newborn girls was Mia, with 130 occurrences. 

This name returned to the top of the list after Nika was the most popular name in the previous analysed period from April 1st to June 30th. 

According to the latest data, after Mia, the most common names were Mila (101), Marta (95), and Nika (83).

The 50 most common names for male newborns from July 1st to September 30th of 2023rwere, in order: Luka, Jakov, David, Toma, Fran, Roko, Matej, Mateo, Petar, Lovro, Ivan, Mihael, Niko, Leon, Marko, Šimun, Noa, Josip, Jan, Borna, Filip, Vito, Leo, Karlo, Teo, Ivano, Ante, Gabriel, Tin, Bruno, Lukas, Viktor, Liam, Toni, Dominik, Oliver, Maro, Marin, Rafael, Adrian, Emanuel, Mauro, Andrej, Erik, Lovre, Patrik, Stjepan, Juraj, Adam, and Bepo.

As for the names of female newborns during the same period, they were: Mia, Mila, Marta, Nika, Ema, Lucija, Rita, Eva, Sara, Elena, Klara, Marija, Lara, Sofia, Ana, Ena, Lana, Hana, Laura, Lea, Iva, Tena, Petra, Franka, Una, Dora, Emili, Tara, Lena, Leona, Magdalena, Tea, Vita, Tia, Iris, Maša, Luce, Sofija, Aurora, Lota, Nikol, Katja, Nora, Bruna, Mara, Roza, Lora, Cvita, Dunja, and Kiara.
