Istria to be advertised during La Liga and Euroleague games in Spain

ZAGREB, 15 Feb (Hina) – The Basque company Baskonia-Alaves Group, which owns 85% of the Croatian first league football club Istria 1961, will advertise the Croatian peninsula of Istria during basketball and football matches in the Basque Country, in the north of Spain.
“Istra has become the new official sponsor of Baskonia and Deportivo Alaves. This cooperation includes various services such as lighting and placing an Istria sticker on the field during Euroleague matches, which will help strengthen the image of Istria among the sports audience,” Baskonia-Alaves Group announced on Monday.
The Vitoria-Gasteiz- based company did not specify the financial terms of the sponsorship.
Baskonia, which competes in the Euroleague, ranks ninth among 18 clubs in the Spanish basketball championship.
The football club Deportivo Alaves is currently 12th among the 20 teams in Spain’s La Liga.
The club’s most notable achievement occurred in 2001 during its inaugural appearance in European competition. The team advanced to the 2001 UEFA Cup Final, facing Liverpool, but suffered a 5-4 defeat via a golden goal.

Another significant moment was in 2017 when the club made it to the Copa del Rey final, only to be defeated 3-1 by Barcelona.
